Rail
Description
No interstate highways. Few airlines. High-speed rail is the dominate form of transportation. The great Robber Barons still rule and Ellie Courtland is the daughter of the owner of the Great North and West. She has little interest in the family business until she stumbles on her older brother conspiring with rivals.
With her best friend, Prudence Roosevelt, Ellie begins an investigation that leads her across the country. Can she stop her brother and save the company from both their rivals and regulating politicians?
An alternate history novel written entirely by a human.

Ideology
Rail was written as an alternate history novel to illustrate how the United States might be different under a Libertarian Congress that never subsidized air and road travel.

Quotes
Ellis Courtland
I don’t know about saved, but rail sure made this country better. They tried to kill passenger rail, those idiots in Congress. That damned interstate highway system we barely averted. It would have destroyed the major metropolitan areas.
Prudence
My great-uncle Teddy was in the first wave at Normandy Beach after he’d been gassed in World War I, had arthritis and a heart condition. His son, my whatever uncle, landed that day as well and fought all the way across France and Germany. His brother died flying a plane in the war. I may be blonde; I may have big boobs but I’m not a coward. I’m a Roosevelt.
